For Delhi Contemporary Art Week 2026, Blueprint12 presents Ways of Being Seen
The figure has long been one of art’s most enduring subjects, an ever-shifting presence through which artists have explored identity, memory, desire, vulnerability, and belonging. Across centuries and mediums, the body has been rendered as devotion, likeness, testimony, protest, and introspection. Ways of Being Seen brings together ten artists whose practices approach the figure through distinctly personal and often unexpected forms, spanning photography, sculpture, drawing, ceramics, painting, and printmaking.
Across these works, the figure becomes more than an image to be represented. It becomes a site of memory and grief, of suppressed emotion and queer visibility, of inherited histories and identity politics. From intimate domestic spaces to hybrid human-animal forms, from archival testimony to satire and speculative worlds, each artist considers what it means to inhabit a body, a history, or a sense of self, and to insist upon being seen.
Together, these practices reveal the figure as both subject and witness: a space where the personal meets the political, where memory meets imagination, and where different ways of being find form.
